![]() ![]() This is the piece of music that plays whenever a long story is being told, with fantasy-like visuals being presented at the same time. #10 – Legend of Hyrule / Chamber of Sages The appearance of the game may have aged (though it has been re-dignified thanks to its 3DS port), but my nostalgia for it will always make it beautiful, aesthetically or otherwise. He ensured its legacy, from the gorgeous title theme to every little jingle you hear whenever you open a chest. ![]() ![]() Koji Kondo did a magnificent job of accompanying the ground-breaking greatness of ‘Ocarina of Time’ with a music score that one might say similar things about. Also one note, I won’t be including the ending medley/staff roll, as much as I love it, it’s a medley of other songs, some of which will be included. Some of the most notable musical pieces are ones that Link will play on his ocarina during the game, and a few of them will be making an appearance in this list! This is my list of greatest/favourite music pieces in ‘Ocarina of Time’ – I’ve decided to just make it a top ten so that I don’t get too carried away, but I will be making note of a few honourable mentions also. You may use your ocarina to warp, create severe weather changes, turn day into night (and vice versa), summon your trusty horse Epona and a few other things including making blocks appear and talking to old friends. ‘Ocarina of Time’ is of course, a very musical game, with a lot of the game’s plot and progression revolving around the main character’s (Link, but call him whatever you want) ocarina. It also explores numerous themes within itself that are also taken and blended from the many flavours of the game – there are medieval qualities, there are lazy, laid-back tunes, there are ambient dungeon pieces, beautiful majesty, flamenco guitars, descriptive, climactic instrumentals and one amazing thing that has been achieved through time, and that is nostalgia. Koji Kondo’s score for ‘Ocarina’ boasts an otherworldly vastness, a textural representation of everything that makes the game significant. For the most part, 3D games are going to end up getting dated as technology improves, but one thing that will never age is the game’s soundtrack. Back around when it was released, I found the overall look and feel of the game to be like nothing I’d ever seen before. 1998’s ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ is one of my favourite video games. ![]()
